What happens if the vendor disappears

Business continuity for a software dependency is a standard ODD item. If the system decides on a vendor's infrastructure, the honest answer is that the strategy stops. If it decides on your own machines with your own keys, and you hold a source license, the answer is materially better.

Segregation between research and production

Diligence will ask how a change is tested before it touches live capital, and who signs it off. A product with no separation between evaluating a change and deploying it is difficult to defend.

The fund's books must reconcile to the prime broker, not to what the software intended. Realised profit and fees rebuilt from the broker's own record, with positions and protective orders reconciled before any new order, is the standard. Anything softer creates month-end problems that land on the CFO.

Protective orders resting at the broker rather than inside the software matter more at fund scale, because an unprotected book during an outage is a reportable event rather than a bad afternoon.

Feeds go stale and venues drop out. At fund scale, acting on numbers that should not be trusted is a far larger problem than missing a day of trading. Ask whether the system stops and says so, or degrades silently.

What is the concentration profile

Autonomous systems can converge on correlated positions without intending to. Ask how concentration is measured and bounded, because this is the failure that turns a bad week into a redemption conversation.
