Automated trading software for Windows

The short answer

TradeAgentic runs on Windows 10 or later as a native desktop application, connected to your own brokerage account with your own API credentials. It is the same engine that runs on macOS, making the same decisions from the same research, so nothing about the trading behaviour differs between the two.

macOS is where the product was designed and it remains the platform most licensees run. Windows is a first-class target rather than a compatibility layer: no virtual machine, no browser tab, no remote desktop into somebody else's server.

What automated trading software for Windows should give you

Credentials held by the operating system

Broker API keys are the most sensitive thing an automated trading system holds. On Windows they go into the Credential Manager, encrypted at rest by the operating system and never written to a configuration file. There is no vendor database holding them, because there is no vendor server in the path at all.

Starting without anyone present

The desk registers to start at login and comes back after a restart, resuming whatever mode it was last running. Windows updates and reboots are ordinary events on a machine that runs unattended, and the system is built to survive them rather than to be restarted by hand.

No dependency on anyone else staying up

The decision-making happens on your machine. A vendor outage, a vendor breach or a vendor going out of business does not stop your desk or expose your account, which is the difference between licensed software and a subscription to somebody's servers.

A real application, not a wrapper

Plenty of Windows trading products are a web view in a native shell, which still depends on a server being reachable and usually cannot reach the credential store. Ask any vendor directly, and ask what happens when your connection drops for ten minutes.

What is identical to the macOS build

The engine and every decision it makes

The part that forms views, argues against them, sizes positions and grades its own results is the same code on both platforms. There is no reduced Windows edition and no feature that arrives on one platform first.

Protection resting at the broker

Bracket orders for equities, resting stops for crypto and defined risk for spreads all rest at the brokerage rather than inside the application. That is a design decision independent of the operating system, and it is why the machine being off does not leave a position unmanaged.

Nothing leaving the machine

Market and account data stay local on either platform. The desk reaches out to your broker and its data sources and accepts no inbound connections.

The research and the record

The backtester, its cost model, the options repricing and the decision record are all engine-side. A Windows licensee reproduces the same research from the same single command.

Setting up a Windows machine for it

A dedicated machine earns its cost quickly

Automated trading does not need a fast computer, it needs one that is always on and always the same. An inexpensive desktop left running, doing nothing else, removes most of the ways people interrupt their own system.

Turn off what interrupts

Sleep, fast startup and automatic restarts after updates are all hazards on a machine meant to run unattended. Set active hours or defer restarts deliberately rather than discovering the behaviour at three in the morning.

Wire it rather than trusting wifi

A dropped connection at the wrong moment is avoidable, and ethernet costs nothing.

Administer it remotely

Once configured you rarely need to sit at it. Remote Desktop from the machine you actually work on keeps the trading machine isolated from everything else you do.

Questions worth asking before you buy any of it

Where does the decision happen

On your machine or a vendor's servers. If theirs, their availability and their security become your problem, and you cannot inspect either. This single question removes most of the market.

Where does the protection rest

A stop held inside the software disappears when the software does. One resting at the brokerage survives a crash, a reboot, a power cut and the vendor disappearing.

Can you see what it refused

Any product can show you its fills. The candidates it declined, and why, are where you find out whether the judgment is real. Ask to read that record on a paper account before funding anything.

Can you rerun the research

Ask whether the backtest reproduces on your own hardware from one command, with a real cost model rather than frictionless fills. A backtest you cannot rerun is marketing.

Common questions

Does TradeAgentic run on Windows?
Yes. It runs on Windows 10 or later as a native desktop application, using your own brokerage account and your own API credentials. It is the same engine as the macOS build, so the trading behaviour, the research and the decision record are identical across both platforms.
Is the Windows version different from the Mac one?
Not in what it does. The engine that makes the decisions is the same code, so there is no reduced Windows edition and no feature that lands on one platform first. What differs is the operating system integration: credentials live in the Windows Credential Manager rather than the macOS Keychain, and the desk starts at login through Windows rather than as a macOS login item.
Do I need a dedicated PC to run automated trading software?
It is the sensible arrangement rather than a strict requirement. A desk that runs unattended wants a machine that is always on, never sleeping and not used for anything else. An inexpensive desktop with sleep disabled and update restarts deferred costs less than most trading software subscriptions and removes the common ways people interrupt their own system.
What happens to my positions if Windows restarts for an update?
Protective orders rest at your brokerage rather than inside the software, so an open position stays protected whether or not the machine is running. When the desk comes back it resumes the mode it was in and reconciles positions and protection against the broker's record before opening anything new.
